Maxwells World Fallout 4
Earlier this Summer I downloaded Maxwell's World for Fallout 4.
Boy, was that an experience.

The first thing I noticed about this mod was:
'Custom music? This is awesome!' Well it turns out there's only about four or five songs and after playing for eight hours those few songs get reeeeeaaaaalllllyyy old.
But in the beginning it was pretty great, other than that one NPC'S Sub-par voice acting. It was kind of dark, and after a while that got really annoying too. I feel like I hardly even got to experience the mod because of how blind I was half the time.
So my first playthrough went pretty smoothly. I fell in love with the companions and enjoyed the plotline and mystery. Well, until the end. Apparently just playing through what the game tells you to do will get you the worst ending possible. Like, all your friends died a horrible painful death including Stoat who is the best and I really liked him nooooo. So I couldn't rest with that ending.
I played through, trying to play by the rules even more than usual since in my last playthrough Maxwell said I had 'no respect for the park'. I did the entire storyline in about an hour and felt pretty good about it. Until all my friends died a horrible painful death.
So I restarted and looked up what exactly I needed to do to get a good ending. And it's a lot of work. What I liked the most, however, is that I got to learn a lot more about my favorite companions and it turns out none of them believed what they wanted to believe and it was really interesting to make the characters more realistic.
The most important part to getting a good ending, however, was the 'truth thingies'. In every part of the map, hidden, was a little room that disproved and proved at the same time all of your companions theories about the park.
Two of them were easy to find and immersed me in the lore of the park. The third one.. well the third one.. holy shit.
The third lore segment was located at the heart of a GIGANTIC FUCKING ENDLESS FUCKING MAZE FILLED WITH IMMORTAL FUCKING JANITORS WHO WOULD BEAT THE FUCK OUT OF YOU WITH THEIR BROOMS. I SPENT FOUR HOURS OF MY LIFE IN THAT FUCKING MAZE LOOKING FOR THAT ROOM.
Now every time I'm in a place in Fallout that even remotely reminds me of that maze I get flashbacks. The creepy ass music on a loop, the low visibility and the using my pip-boy map to navigate. Too much.
(2018). (2018). Space Bug (2018). Watch magic knight rayearth. (2018).
But I got the good ending, hoping I could take at least Stoat back with me but NO, all the companions that I somehow loved more than Nick and Hancock all just split up never to be seen again. I'm going to send a strongly worded letter to the author of the mod asking for a standalone with the companions.
But anyway, the good ending was very unsatisfactory, and the final boss fight was glitchy. I assume there was supposed to be a monolog or something but there was just silence and there's not a single youtuber dedicated enough to get the good ending so I guess it'll just stay a mystery.
AND CAN I TALK ABOUT THE FUCKING UNCONVENTIONAL PLUMBING BOSS? THAT BOSS FIGHT TOOK ME WAY TOO LONnG BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE A FUCKING CLUE WHAT TO DO. I had to watch so many youtube videos. Like who was supposed to know you have to shoot a mininuke through a door that opens for only 5 seconds and is hard to hit. Total bs.
So anyway, that was the rant of a person who has PTSD because of a fallout mod.
